Tame Impala gave us an amazing John Lennon cover to celebrate his 80th birthday

A barefoot 'love-in' that we can all appreciate

October 12, 2020

In celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday on October 9, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker gave fans a touching cover of the John Lennon classic "Jealous Guy" straight from his bed -- a barefoot "love-in" that we can all appreciate as we struggle to flip the covers each morning.

Originally demoed as "Child of Nature," by Lennon for The Beatles' White Album, the track has been covered extensively over the years, notably by Deftones, Roxy Music, Joe Cocker, and Rod Stewart to name just a few. But it's Parker's that truly captures the spirit of the songwriter, inspired by a lecture given by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and attended by the Fab Four in 1968.

You can listen to the official John Lennon version here.

Parker's at home performance, likely shot on his phone, shows off the singer's gorgeous voice as well as the truly epic natural reverb he seems to get without even needing to step out of his bed.

One of our past RADIO.COM Picks of the Week, Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) released his current album, The Slow Rush, in February 2020 -- his first full length record since 2015's Currents.
